About The Position

The English Instructor provides quality language instruction and student support in accordance with Berlitz teaching and customer service principles. Under the direction of the Service Delivery Manager and Academic Specialist, the instructor teaches assigned students, represents Berlitz as a teaching expert and ambassador, and participates in professional development to support goal-oriented, student-centered instruction. The role is part-time and based in person in Alexandria, Virginia, with teaching assignments that may also take place at offsite locations or virtually.

Requirements

• Be eligible to work in the United States.
• Have a four-year college or university degree, or equivalent.
• Be fluent in the language or languages being taught; the posting also specifies native-level fluency in the required language.
• Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Be flexible in working hours and available during the day.
• Be able to take initiative and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Deliver lessons in accordance with Berlitz teaching principles and students’ goals, needs, and interests.
• Conduct level assessments and needs analyses as assigned by the Service Delivery Manager or Academic Specialist.
• Teach private and group students at the Learning Center, offsite locations, or virtually, as assigned.
• Meet regularly with the Academic Specialist for lesson evaluation and coaching to strengthen teaching skills and meet SMART goals.
• Complete assigned training and professional development modules or live sessions.
• Keep student pedagogical and attendance records up to date.
• Integrate learning technology into teaching programs and maintain shared teaching resource materials.
• Perform other duties delegated by the Service Delivery Manager or Academic Specialist.
