About The Position

The English Instructor delivers quality language instruction and represents Berlitz as an expert teacher and ambassador for the company. Under the direction of the Service Delivery Manager and Academic Specialist, the instructor teaches assigned classes and supports students in accordance with Berlitz teaching and customer service principles. The role includes working with private and group learners at the Learning Center, offsite locations, or virtually, as assigned.

The instructor participates in lesson evaluations, coaching, training, and professional development to strengthen teaching skills and support goal-oriented, student-centered instruction. The role is part-time, in person in Alexandria, Virginia, although assignments may also take place offsite or virtually.

Requirements

• Be eligible to work in the United States.
• Have a four-year college or university degree, or equivalent.
• Be fluent in the language(s) to be taught; the posting also specifies native-fluency-level ability in the required language.
• Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Be flexible in working hours.
• Be able to take initiative and work independently.
• Be available during the day.
• Have exceptional communication skills in both English and the instructor’s native language.

Responsibilities

• Deliver lessons in accordance with Berlitz teaching principles, focusing on students’ goals, needs, and interests.
• Conduct level assessments and needs analyses as assigned by the Service Delivery Manager or Academic Specialist.
• Teach private and group students at the Learning Center, offsite locations, or virtually, as assigned.
• Meet regularly with the Academic Specialist for lesson evaluation and coaching to strengthen teaching skills and ensure SMART goals are met.
• Complete training and professional development modules on the @Berlitz Learning website and/or attend live face-to-face sessions as assigned.
• Keep student pedagogical and attendance records up to date.
• Integrate learning technology into teaching programs and maintain shared teaching resource materials.
• Perform other duties delegated by the Service Delivery Manager or Academic Specialist.
