About The Position

Peak Energy is seeking a highly motivated Engineering Technician to support test, validation, and prototyping activities across our Energy Storage Systems (ESS) development lifecycle. This role exists to bridge hands-on execution and engineering support as we accelerate battery and power electronics systems from concept to production. You will work closely with Test Engineers, Design & Manufacturing Engineering, and Operations to execute tests, assemble fixtures, collect and analyze data, and help improve processes across the development lifecycle. This role blends hands-on test execution with engineering support and cross-functional collaboration at a fast-moving, early-stage energy company. The ideal candidate brings solid mechanical and electrical aptitude, strong problem-solving skills, and a proactive, detail-oriented mindset.

Requirements

  • Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience in Engineering Technology, Mechanical/Electrical/Energy Systems, or a similar field
  • 1–3+ years of hands-on experience in technical testing, lab work, or system validation
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude; proficiency with hand tools and test equipment
  • Experience with test setup, data collection, and basic troubleshooting
  • Solid communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams
  • Hands-on problem-solver with an eye for detail
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced and evolving engineering environment
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to track trends and communicate insights
  • Safety-focused and quality-driven

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with battery systems, energy storage, or power electronics
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Python scripts for data logging)
  • Understanding of environmental stress or reliability testing methods

Responsibilities

  • Execute lab and field tests on components, subsystems, and full battery systems, including electrical, mechanical, and environmental stress tests
  • Build and assemble test fixtures, prototypes, harnesses, and instrumentation setups
  • Instrument products and systems for data collection; operate test equipment safely and accurately
  • Collect, organize, and archive test data and records for engineering review
  • Work with engineers to refine test plans, troubleshoot failures, and implement corrective actions
  • Provide structured feedback on design, assembly, and test processes to improve product quality and yield
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) builds, pilot runs, and process documentation
  • Perform in-process and final inspections to verify compliance with specifications
  • Maintain clear documentation of test setups, procedures, results, and deviations
  • Adhere to safety protocols, maintain organized workspaces, and proactively flag hazards
  • Identify inefficiencies and propose improvements to tooling, workflows, and methods
  • Contribute to Lean/5S initiatives and standardization efforts
