About The Position

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking to add an Engineering Technician 1 or 2 to join our team in El Segundo, CA. The candidate should be a self-starter with familiarity working in a Production, Workshop, or Laboratory environment. The candidate will work within a technical team responsible for building, testing, and analyzing Materials and Materials Systems; and will provide technical support to Engineers and other Laboratory Staff.

Requirements

  • Engineering Technician 2: High School diploma or equivalent with 2 years additional education and/or related experience.
  • Engineering Technician 3: High School diploma or equivalent and 4 years additional education and/or related experience.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Basic Computer proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Candidate MUST be a US citizen and MUST be able to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret clearance and ability to obtain and maintain Program Access (PAR) within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Machine shop experience / certifications.
  • Electronics assembly experience / certifications.
  • Experience working in an organized laboratory, manufacturing, or production environment.
  • Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Active US Government Secret Clearance in scope within the last 6 years, and ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access.

Responsibilities

  • Machine basic parts and fixtures per drawings and work instructions under supervision.
  • Fabricate and assemble test fixtures and specimens using standard shop practices and hand tools.
  • Operate the waterjet system for assigned cuts, stage materials, follow procedures, and verify completed parts.
  • Perform daily cleanup and routine care of lab spaces, machine shop, and shared equipment.
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance on the Waterjet and other Machine Shop Tools with Facilities and outside vendors.
  • Coordinate calibration for electronic Laboratory equipment with the Metrology group and outside vendors.
  • Order and restock tools, consumables, and PPE.
  • Receive, label, store, and issue chemicals per guidelines and keep chemical storage areas organized.
  • Maintain tracking and accountability of government property.
  • Process outdated equipment for Surplus removal.
  • Uphold general lab and shop cleanliness and safety.
  • Assist with test and measurement duties in the Lab under supervision, including gathering, maintaining, formatting, compiling, and manipulating of technical data.
