About The Position

SAIC is seeking an Engineering Technician III to support the Infrared and Radio Frequency (IR/RF) Modeling & Simulation Branch located at NSWC Crane in Crane, Indiana. This role involves supporting engineering activities such as design, test, modification, fabrication, and assembly of prototype electronic and mechanical systems, experimental design circuitry, laser/light transmission devices, or specialized test equipment. Applications may include electronic circuits, photonics, and logic systems. The technician will work from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts, or defined plans to perform testing, checkout, and trouble-shooting functions. They will assist in determining methods or actions to remedy malfunctions, collect, maintain, organize, compile, and manipulate technical data, and prepare engineering documentation, reports, and drawings (sketches/flow charts/diagrams/schematics, etc.). The role also includes performing mathematical calculations per engineering specifications and undertaking data analysis where guidelines are provided. Specific job duties include the ability to create/build flares from imagery, learn specialized software, and assist in acquisition engineering planning, quality inspections, and vendor reviews. Intermediate to advanced computer skills in Excel and PowerPoint, along with analytical skills, are necessary.

Requirements

  • AA degree in related discipline and three (3) years related experience; Or High School and five (5) years related experience and relevant certification.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team to achieve goals, meet schedule requirements, and serve customer needs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form at multiple levels of management/command.
  • Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work.
  • Ability to develop and review training material, processes, and procedures.
  • Ability to research, read, and follow Technical Orders, directives, regulations, and policies.
  • Ability to research and evaluate situations, provide viable solutions, and execute mission needs.
  • Ability to handle high stress situations and respond appropriately.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 70 lbs.
  • Obtain/Maintain Secret clearance
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills, excel, PowerPoint.
  • Analytical skills

  • Experience with MATLAB and/or C++ desired
