About The Position

SAIC is seeking an Engineering Technician III to support the Infrared and Radio Frequency (IR/RF) Modeling & Simulation Branch located at NSWC Crane in Crane, Indiana. This role involves supporting engineering activities such as design, test, modification, fabrication, and assembly of prototype electronic and mechanical systems, experimental design circuitry, laser/light transmission devices, or specialized test equipment. Applications may include electronic circuits, photonics, and logic systems. The technician will work from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts, or defined plans to perform testing, checkout, and troubleshooting functions, assisting in determining methods to remedy malfunctions. Responsibilities also include collecting, maintaining, organizing, compiling, and manipulating technical data, preparing engineering documentation, reports, and drawings, and performing mathematical calculations per engineering specifications. The role also involves undertaking data analysis where guidelines are provided.

Requirements

  • Ability to learn specialized software.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills, excel, PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Support engineering activities such as design, test, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electronic and mechanical systems, experimental design circuitry, laser/light transmission devices or specialized test equipment.
  • Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, checkout and trouble-shooting functions.
  • Assists in determining methods or actions to remedy malfunctions.
  • Collects, maintains, organizes, compiles, and manipulates technical data.
  • Prepares engineering documentation, reports, drawings (sketches/flow charts/diagrams/schematics, etc.).
  • Performs mathematical calculations per engineering specifications.
  • Undertakes analysis of data where guidelines are provided.
  • Create/build flare from imagery.
  • Assist in acquisition engineering planning, quality inspections and vendor review.
