About The Position

Intertek is seeking an Engineering Technician II (Electrical) to join their Electrical team in Plano, Texas. This role provides technical support for engineering staff, performing duties related to routine testing, maintenance, or clean-up. The Electrical business line at Intertek has over 100 years of product testing expertise, serving industries such as Medical, Lighting, Renewable Energy, HVACR, Appliances & Electronics, Hazardous Locations, Industrial Equipment, Life Safety & Security, and IT & Telecom Equipment. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1.5+ years of experience

  • Be aware of, and adhere to, safety practices and policies to ensure your own safety, as well as the safety of others who may be affected by your actions at work
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with shifting priorities and demanding deadlines
  • Ability to use basic shop equipment and various hand tools
  • Ability to review, understand, and convey technical information in an effective manner
  • Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out simple one or two step instructions
  • Must be detailed-oriented and able to effectively prioritize and organize workload, with efficient time management
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal written and presentation formats
  • Must be customer focused and quality driven
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to travel, up to 15%
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record

Nice To Haves

  • 2 year technical degree in Electronic Engineering Technology.
  • 2 years of experience in electrical testing environment
  • Intermediate level of electrical network analysis

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and set up test samples and test equipment.
  • Operate equipment and perform testing in accordance with approved test plan.
  • Obtain and record test data in accordance with standards.
  • Perform calculation and analysis of test data.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot equipment as needed.
  • May make recommendations regarding the interpretation and applicability for specific test standards.
  • May communicate with clients regarding general project inquiries, updates, etc.
  • May assist with test plan creation and/or method development.
  • May adapt procedures and equipment to meet department needs.
  • May prepare project files for compliance with operating procedures.
  • Assist with training entry level technicians.
  • May draft test reports.
  • Perform other work as required.
