About The Position

This role sits at the intersection of engineering, operations, and compliance, ensuring that wells are permitted, drilled, completed, produced, and plugged in full compliance with state, tribal, and federal requirements, while providing the asset team with accurate well data, regulatory requirements and associated deadlines, and technical support. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, comfortable managing deadlines across multiple agencies, and able to communicate effectively with regulators, field personnel, and engineers.

Requirements

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in petroleum technology, engineering technology, geology, environmental science, or a related field, OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in upstream oil and gas regulatory, engineering technician, or production support roles.
  • Working knowledge of state oil and gas regulatory processes; direct experience with OCC and/or WOGCC filings strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook; ability to learn industry software quickly.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with BLM federal permitting and reporting.
  • Experience with well data and engineering software.
  • Understanding of drilling, completion, and production operations terminology and practices.
  • Experience with GIS or mapping tools.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, file, and track drilling permits, completion reports, recompletions, workovers, transfers of operator, and plugging and abandonment filings with the Oklahoma Corporation Commission (OCC) Oil and Gas Conservation Division, Wyoming Oil and Gas Conservation Commission (WOGCC), and Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA).
  • Prepare and submit federal filings for wells on federal and tribal minerals, including Applications for Permit to Drill (APDs), sundry notices, and well completion reports through the Bureau of Land Management's electronic systems.
  • Support spacing, pooling, increased density, and location exception applications in Oklahoma, and spacing/unit and exception location matters in Wyoming, in coordination with land and legal staff.
  • Maintain a regulatory calendar tracking permit expiration, reporting deadlines, testing requirements, bonding obligations, and agency correspondence.
  • Respond to agency inquiries, notices of violation, and audits in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain accurate well files, wellbore diagrams, directional surveys, and completion records in the company's database and document management system.
  • Gather and organize data for engineering evaluations, including production decline analysis, AFE preparation, reserves updates, and workover candidate reviews.
  • Assist asset team with well test data, pressure data, and mechanical integrity test (MIT) records.
  • Support drilling, completion, and plugging operations by coordinating regulatory notices (e.g., spud, casing, cementing, and plugging notifications) with field personnel.
  • Generate maps, reports, and summaries for asset teams.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies.
  • Communicate regulatory requirements and deadlines to field staff and management.
  • Stay current on rule changes and agency guidance in Oklahoma, Wyoming, and at the federal level, and help update internal procedures accordingly.
