About LPSD The Large Power Systems Division (LPSD) is part of Caterpillar’s Power & Energy segment. Through this global organization, Caterpillar designs and manufacture large (greater than 18 liters) diesel and natural gas engines, powertrains and key engine systems. LPSD products and solutions support customers across power generation, industrial, marine, oil & gas, rail, services and Cat® machine applications worldwide. Job Summary As the technical lead for the enterprise, this role is responsible for ensuring that Caterpillar and Perkins are continually compliant with EPA, EU, MLIT (and other) published regulatory requirements related to engine systems assembly that is completed outside any of the engine assembly facilities. This includes the monitoring/directing of all dealers and OEM's to comply with the published Caterpillar/Perkins engine Assembly & Installation (A&I) instructions for all commercial engine applications and to satisfy their contractual obligations to report the installed configuration of both engine and aftertreatment for every engine sold. The output of this role is engine design, sale, and application information that provides evidence of compliance to the respective EPA and EU regulations. Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight of all aftertreatment suppliers to ensure compliance to the composition and presentation of the “as-built” BOM records for all emissions assemblies. This includes the changing and development of new supplier sources or changes to aftertreatment products
  • Manage the engine selling systems controls established to ensure compliance with the related EPA and EU regulations related to the sale of an incomplete (not fully assembled) engine system
  • Provide oversight of the unique web-based systems used by the dealers and OEM that are used by these customers to support compliance to the related regulatory and business requirements
  • Work with new commercial engine customers/dealers to establish the contracts/agreements between Caterpillar and the customer that include all expectations imposed upon both parties that are mandated by the EPA and EU
  • Conduct the required dealer/OEM on-site audits to ensure compliance to the contractual obligations related to auditing, reporting, and managing the application of all certified aftertreatment equipped engines
  • Work with the engine product teams to ensure that the engine and machine product definitions comply with the best practices to ensure that the released content matches the certified composition
  • Provide secondary support for the management of engine installation (engine + aftertreatment) data collection at all Caterpillar machine assembly facilities
  • Lead or participate in the development of process solutions used to support compliance for new and changing products, processes, and related regulations. Serve as subject matter expert in any case where a certified engine assembly is completed
