About The Position

As a Senior Technical Regulatory Compliance Engineering Specialist in the Emissions and Product Regulatory Compliance division, you will join a global team of experts that informs and interprets emissions regulations and standards for Caterpillar. Your work involves extensive collaboration with your peers, regulators, NGOs and industry groups as well as internal business stakeholders. Your role has emissions regulatory affairs responsibilities including global leadership for the Mining industry sector, primary Americas coverage for the Nonroad Mobile sector, and secondary Americas support for the Stationary sector.

Requirements

  • A degree in an accredited Engineering or closely related curriculum.
  • Extensive knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to use these to deepen own expertise and impact or challenge decisions within and outside own organization.
  • Extensive understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision. A willingness to closely analyze regulatory text for changes, areas of concern, ambiguity, apparent errors, etc.
  • Extensive understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; proven ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Expert knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; proven ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • Extensive knowledge of collaborative techniques; proven ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in Emissions Regulatory Affairs.
  • Extensive knowledge of non-road mobile, stationary power, and/or mining equipment emissions regulations and testing standards.
  • Knowledge of engine emissions technologies and certification test procedures.
  • Prior experience working with engine or nonroad equipment industry associations.
  • Fluency in the Spanish language.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and stay current on emissions regulatory requirements and understand application of same to Caterpillar’s products.
  • Provide authoritative interpretation of – and guidance on – developing and current emissions regulations to business partners.
  • Personally engage with industry groups and regulators to inform rulemakings.
  • Identify and communicate regulatory trends to inform business decision making.
  • Collaborate with various internal stakeholders to ensure the development, validation and production of product that meets applicable emissions regulatory requirements.
