Engineering Manager, Launch & Sandboxes

CoreWeave•San Francisco, NY

About The Position

CoreWeave is hiring an Engineering Manager for its IaaS organization to lead the Launch & Sandboxes team. The team owns Sandboxes, isolated GPU-enabled cloud execution environments for running code, and Launch, the services and integrations that support job submission, compute orchestration, and HPC schedulers. Its systems connect developer workflows with compute across Kubernetes clusters, HPC nodes, and cloud virtual machines, helping customers launch, manage, and scale AI workloads. The manager will participate in the full product lifecycle, from ideation and roadmap shaping through delivery and customer support. They will partner with product management to prioritize initiatives, resolve cross-team dependencies, maintain reliable delivery, and manage technical debt. The role requires technical fluency to contribute to architecture discussions involving container orchestration, distributed authentication, and billing infrastructure, and to help when needed, while primarily focusing on developing engineers into autonomous leaders and technical decision-makers. The manager will champion the organization’s use of LLM-based coding tools and agentic workflows, stay close to ML practitioners’ experience of the product, and make customer needs a priority. They will own team outcomes end-to-end, from roadmap commitments through production reliability, make prioritization decisions, uphold engineering quality, and build a team that operates with autonomy and urgency.

  • At least 3 years of engineering management experience, with a track record of shipping infrastructure or platform products.
  • At least 5 years of software engineering experience before moving into management, with depth in backend systems.
  • Technical fluency in Go, Python, and Kubernetes, including the ability to review pull requests, unblock architectural decisions, and understand production incidents.
  • Experience managing teams that own distributed systems in production.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance product delivery with technical health, including technical debt, reliability, and on-call responsibilities.
  • Experience partnering with product managers to shape and prioritize a roadmap.
  • Track record of growing engineers across levels.
  • Strong communication skills with engineering and non-engineering stakeholders.
  • Comfort operating amid ambiguity, particularly in newer product areas where scope is still being defined.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with ML infrastructure, ML platforms, or developer tools for data scientists.
  • Familiarity with compute orchestration, job scheduling, or container isolation technologies.
  • Experience managing teams through a product-area transition, such as early-stage growth or post-acquisition integration.
  • Background in HPC or scientific computing environments.
  • Experience with billing systems, metering, or usage-based pricing infrastructure.
  • Founding experience or an early-stage background taking a product from idea to users.

  • Lead the Launch & Sandboxes engineering team and its work on cloud execution environments, job submission services, compute orchestration, and HPC scheduler integrations.
  • Guide work across the product lifecycle, from ideation and roadmap shaping through delivery and customer availability.
  • Partner with product management to prioritize competing initiatives and shape the roadmap.
  • Unblock engineers on cross-team dependencies and support reliable delivery while managing technical debt.
  • Participate in architecture discussions concerning container orchestration, distributed authentication, and billing infrastructure.
  • Develop engineers into autonomous leaders and technical decision-makers.
  • Champion LLM-based coding tools and agentic workflows within the team.
  • Stay close to ML practitioners’ needs and incorporate their experience into team priorities.
  • Own team outcomes end-to-end, including roadmap commitments and production reliability.
