Engineering Manager - Full-Stack Web
About The Position
Akuna Capital is seeking a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead a team of Web developers responsible for the firm’s core trading interface used by options market makers. The team’s applications help traders and quantitative researchers understand market conditions, assess risk, and manage automated components. Performance is key, and the role focuses on finding efficient and innovative ways to view markets. This high-impact role combines technical leadership, stakeholder collaboration, and product ownership to evolve a mission-critical trading application. The manager leads and mentors Web developers, works with traders and stakeholders on priorities and roadmaps, guides architecture and UI/UX design, and promotes development best practices using TypeScript/React and Python. The role also ensures code quality, scalability, and operational excellence while translating complex trading requirements into actionable development plans.
Requirements
- BS, MS, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Physics, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of professional web development experience.
- Strong understanding of software and user interface design principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to react quickly and accurately to rapidly changing market conditions, including responding to or solving math and coding problems quickly and accurately.
- Organized, proactive, and comfortable balancing technical depth with product direction.
Nice To Haves
- Background in finance or trading systems; options experience is preferred.
- Experience working in or with high-performance or real-time systems.
- Prior team leadership or mentoring experience.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of Web developers supporting Akuna’s suite of web apps.
- Collaborate with traders and stakeholders to define project priorities and the roadmap.
- Guide architecture, UI/UX design, and development best practices using TypeScript/React and Python.
- Ensure code quality, scalability, and operational excellence.
- Translate complex trading requirements into actionable development plans.
