About The Position

Akuna Capital is seeking a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead a team of Web developers responsible for the firm’s core trading interface used by options market makers. The team builds applications that help traders and quantitative researchers understand market conditions, assess risk, and manage automated components. The role focuses on the performance and continued evolution of this mission-critical trading application, combining technical leadership, stakeholder collaboration, and product ownership.

Requirements

• BS, MS, Ph.D., or equivalent education in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Physics, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of professional web development experience.
• Strong understanding of software and user interface design principles.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to react quickly and accurately to rapidly changing market conditions, including responding to or solving math and coding problems quickly and accurately.

Nice To Haves

• Background in finance or trading systems; options experience is preferred.
• Experience working in or with high-performance or real-time systems.
• Prior team leadership or mentoring experience.
• Organized, proactive approach and comfort balancing technical depth with product direction.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of Web developers supporting Akuna's suite of web apps.
• Collaborate with traders and stakeholders to define project priorities and the roadmap.
• Guide architecture, UI/UX design, and development best practices using TypeScript/React and Python.
• Ensure code quality, scalability, and operational excellence.
• Translate complex trading requirements into actionable development plans.
