About The Position

Nucor Towers & Structures Inc. is seeking an Engineering Manager for its business unit in Rock Hill, South Carolina. The manager leads Engineers, Estimators, and/or Detailers who prepare quotes, designs, and drawings for transmission, distribution, substation, and other utility structures, primarily tubular steel poles, arms, and accessories. The position reports to the Director of the Engineering Department. The manager hires, mentors, coaches, and holds teammates accountable; sets priorities and expectations; and ensures the consistent application of current design policies, procedures, and practices. The role guides the team in delivering quality work on time and with consistent results, participates in the Division leadership team to advance continuous improvement and business success, and supports the sales team through customer interactions that promote Nucor’s value proposition and build partnerships. The manager works with other engineering department leaders to make decisions supporting safe and competitive product designs. Travel is required to visit customers, support plants, attend trade shows, and for other business needs. Safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards must be initiated, led, and upheld at all times.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
Registered Professional Engineer (PE), or ability to obtain registration within 6 months of the start date.

Nice To Haves

Prior leadership experience.
At least 2 years of utility pole/tower structures industry experience.
At least 2 years of steel products design or structural steel connection design experience.
A degree with a Structural emphasis.
Master’s degree in Engineering or Business.
Willingness to relocate for future advancement opportunities within Nucor.

Responsibilities

Lead Engineers, Estimators, and/or Detailers in preparing quotes, designs, and drawings for utility structures, primarily tubular steel poles, arms, and accessories.
Interview and hire new teammates.
Provide mentorship, coaching, and accountability to teammates.
Ensure consistent application of current design policies, procedures, and practices.
Manage team priorities and set expectations.
Guide teammates to deliver quality work on time and with consistent results.
Participate in the Division leadership team to drive continuous improvement and overall business success.
Support the sales team through customer interactions, promoting the company’s value proposition and cultivating partnerships.
Make decisions with other engineering department leaders to provide safe and competitive product designs.
Travel to visit customers, support plants, exhibit at trade shows, and for other business needs.
Initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards.
