About The Position

The Engineering Manager leads Brighton Jones' software engineering and integration team. This is a hands-on technical leadership role for someone who balances writing code with leading engineers, making architecture decisions, and driving delivery. We're evolving our integration approach toward a development-focused engineering practice. You'll lead that transition while owning day-to-day delivery for our internal applications, integrations, and AI-powered tools.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years in technical leadership
  • Strong technical depth in modern stacks (Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, cloud-native)
  • Experience with integration patterns (APIs, event-driven architecture, ETL/ELT)
  • Hands-on cloud experience (Azure preferred given M365 alignment; AWS or GCP also welcome)
  • Track record leading small teams in shared-service environments with multiple internal customers
  • Comfort owning build and buy decisions and articulating the tradeoffs

Nice To Haves

  • Salesforce ecosystem familiarity (Financial Services Cloud, Apex, SFDC integrations)
  • AI/ML application experience (LLM integration, RAG, agent frameworks)

Responsibilities

  • Lead a small team of engineers (currently 2, growing to 3 by 2027)
  • Architecture decisions and technical direction across the engineering function
  • Sprint planning, code reviews, technical standards, and engineering culture
  • Modernization of our integration platform and patterns
  • Partnership with the Cloud & Platform Engineer on CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and deployment automation
  • Cross-functional delivery for Product, Data & Systems, and Operations teams
  • Hands-on contribution to architecture, complex problem solving, and key builds
  • Mentorship and growth of engineers, including recruiting future hires
