About The Position

Allied Universal® is hiring a Engineering Manager. The Engineering Manager will oversee the entire engineering process, from pre-sale and post-sale engineering, managing the quotation and implementation phases of the project. The Engineering Manager encompasses final design documentation, configuration, testing and acceptance procedures, adhering to company policies, procedures, standards, and goals. This role will be responsible for coordinating all engineering activities, including hiring, evaluating, training, and mentoring engineering staff as well as establishing functional regional office locations. The Engineering Manager is expected to travel up to 20% of their time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Electronics, Management, or related field OR Associate’s degree in Engineering, Electronics, Management, or related field with a minimum of seven (7) years of supervisory engineering experience OR High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of ten (10) years of supervisory engineering experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years of management or supervisory engineering experience
  • Excellent presentation and training delivery skills, both in-person and web-based
  • Strong oral and written communication abilities with all levels of management
  • Proven track record in developing others and collaborating effectively in a team-oriented environment
  • Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects, shifting priorities, and meeting deadlines
  • Ability to foster positive working relationships with employees, vendors, and executive-level clients
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

Responsibilities

  • Direct and supervise the Regional Engineering department across various locations; design and implement career development and performance improvement plans
  • Monitor productivity and conducting regular evaluations of engineering personnel
  • Supervise the quoting and detailed engineering processes for projects, encompassing technical documents, drawings, scopes of work, and specifications; ensures that the engineering complies with the requirements of the prime contract and meet company standard processes
  • Interpret building architecture, mechanical and electrical drawings, and makes recommendations for installing equipment and materials in coordination with building management, the owner, and the applicable jurisdictions
  • Manage the preparation and submittal of contract deliverables such as engineering drawings, final acceptance documentation, and turnover packages
  • Review system design and component compatibility; exercise cost analysis procedures and value engineering for components in the project, creating opportunities for cost reduction and margin increases
  • Oversee and provide technical support of project and field personnel through vendor interface and submission of engineering change proposals
  • Participate in the Requests for Information (RFI) and Request for Change (RFC) processes with sales and operation teams
