About The Position

The Manager Engineering will lead the hospital maintenance process and team, overseeing various systems including capital projects, building maintenance, steam distribution, plumbing, medical gas systems, campus HVAC systems, electrical, and life safety systems. This role serves as a technical resource for equipment and buildings, responsible for budgeting, resource scheduling, timeline establishment, and overall management of daily maintenance requirements while ensuring expenses stay within budget. The position involves scheduling vendor repairs to minimize patient care disruption, reviewing maintenance logs, and monitoring the effectiveness of the Preventative Maintenance Program. Additionally, the Manager Engineering will identify and manage the replacement of capital equipment, ensure compliance with code and regulatory requirements, conduct safety rounds, and promote energy conservation and environmentally responsible measures. The role also includes implementing practices to meet productivity goals, limit overtime, and adjust staffing. The ideal candidate will fully support hospital/departmental initiatives, lead by example, and seek staff input for operational improvements. This is a leadership position requiring a highly engaged and positive attitude, with responsibilities in team leadership, planning, scheduling, assessing, organizing, and directing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical, Electrical or other Engineering required
  • 5 years of Supervisory experience required

Responsibilities

  • Lead hospital maintenance process and team, including capital projects, building maintenance, steam distribution, plumbing, medical gas systems, campus HVAC systems, electrical, life safety systems, and other equipment.
  • Serve as a technical resource for equipment and buildings.
  • Provide budgets, conduct assessments, schedule resources, establish timelines, and direct overall management of daily maintenance requirements.
  • Maintain expenses not to exceed budget allowances.
  • Evaluate and make changes to processes for optimized efficiencies.
  • Schedule vendor maintenance repairs to minimize disruption to patient care.
  • Review completed PM, inspection log sheets, and history records.
  • Monitor the overall effectiveness of Preventative Maintenance Program.
  • Recognize when replacement of capital equipment is needed and manage the replacement process.
  • Ensure code and regulatory compliance requirements are met by the maintenance, repairs, and associated documentation.
  • Conduct regular safety rounds and ensure policies for safe practices are updated and utilized.
  • Support, initiate, and facilitate energy conservation and environmentally responsible measures.
  • Implement practices that meet productivity goals, limit overtime activity, and adjust staffing needs.
  • Fully support hospital/departmental initiatives for change and lead by example.
  • Seek input from staff on effectiveness of operations and adjust to needs as practical.
  • Perform any other duties as requested by Leadership.
