About The Position

Robinhood is seeking an Engineering Manager for their Margin team to lead the design and operation of critical margin infrastructure, including lending systems, risk evaluation pipelines, and account health monitoring. This role involves guiding technical direction, supporting engineers, and ensuring services meet performance, reliability, and compliance standards. The manager will collaborate with cross-functional partners to translate business needs into engineering plans and drive system stability and customer outcome improvements. The position is based in the New York, NY office, with a requirement for in-person attendance at least 5 days per week, emphasizing the company's belief in the power of in-person work for progress, innovation, and community strengthening.

Requirements

  • Experience managing and developing engineering teams, including hiring, coaching, and performance management
  • Strong technical expertise in distributed systems, backend services, or financial systems
  • Experience building or supporting systems that require high reliability, data accuracy, and regulatory awareness
  • Comfortable using data and metrics to inform decisions and improve system performance
  • Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical partners and align teams around shared goals

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support a team of engineers building margin and lending systems, including setting goals, providing feedback, and supporting career growth
  • Define and execute technical plans that improve system reliability, latency, and scalability for margin-related services
  • Partner with product, risk, legal, and data teams to deliver features that meet regulatory requirements and improve customer experience
  • Establish clear engineering processes, including code reviews, incident response practices, and system monitoring standards
  • Use metrics such as system uptime, latency, and error rates to guide prioritization and track improvements
