About the position

As an Engineering Manager at Justworks, you will oversee a team of Software Engineers and work closely with Designers and Product Managers. Your role will involve coordinating projects, prioritization, and engineers to create and maintain features for customers. While some hands-on coding is required, a strong technical background and a passion for mentoring and growing teams are essential. The Benefits Platform Team is responsible for building and running a new, hyper flexible benefits platform that will drive the growth of the core business. If you have a broad knowledge of core web development technologies, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to see the bigger picture, this role may be a great fit for you.

Responsibilities

Work with the Engineers, Designers, and Product Managers to prioritize, schedule and execute projects
Partner with Product to define and execute the team’s long-term strategy and quarterly roadmap
Communicate and coordinate with other teams to understand requirements and opportunities for improvement
Mentor engineers to help them grow their technical skills
Provide guidance, both technical and non-technical, to direct reports
Attract, hire, develop, and retain a high-performing team of engineers
Help drive sound technical decision-making and lead technical conversations with other teams
Instill a sense of empathy in the team for internal stakeholders to create better user experiences
Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

Extensive knowledge of core web development technologies
High level of empathy and interpersonal skills
Ability to grasp and communicate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
Strong technical background
Passion for mentoring and growing teams
Experience coordinating projects and prioritization
Ability to work with Engineers, Designers, and Product Managers to develop and ship new features
Experience defining and executing long-term strategies and roadmaps
Excellent communication and coordination skills
Ability to attract, hire, develop, and retain a high-performing team of engineers
Sound technical decision-making skills

Base wage range of $205,000.00 to $220,000.00 per year (based in New York City)
