About the position
Join one of the world's fastest growing fintech startups as an Engineering Manager. In this role, you will lead an engineering team to enable users to pay their bills securely and efficiently. You will work closely with product management and contribute to the development of exceptional software. With a focus on long-term strategies and processes, you will also have the opportunity to influence engineering strategy and contribute to the growth and evolution of the organization.
Responsibilities
- Plan and execute long-term strategies and processes for software projects
- Measure and monitor project performance, expose status and metrics to stakeholders
- Influence senior leadership on engineering strategy
- Work within and across teams to evaluate technical design, solve problems, deliver completed projects
- Work with other managers and engineering leaders to establish goals and vision for the department
- Contribute to organization structure and growth planning
- Conduct interviews, hire employees, evaluate performance, and mentor for career growth
- Conduct regular 1x1s with direct reports and skip level 1x1s for other team members
- Complete company onboarding
- Have a chance to work with each engineering team, learning who they are and what they are responsible for
- Make your first code commits
- Deliver your first code changes to production
- Conduct a 1x1 with each of your direct reports and team members
- Contribute to and help deliver features on the product roadmap
- Help in planning future features and changes for our software and our service
- Help build out the team through recruiting, high-bar interviewing, onboarding, and mentoring new team members
- Progress in your career path, increasing your influence and leadership within the department and company
- Help shape the technical vision for our software
- Contribute to the growth and evolution of our organization
Requirements
- 8+ years of industry experience
- The desire and capacity for learning quickly in a fast-paced environment, while handling multiple tasks simultaneously
- Experience with agile software engineering processes
- Experience with high scale, distributed, 24x7 systems and applications
- Experience building and managing software engineering teams, including interviewing, hiring, evaluation, and mentorship
- Ability to set goals, define and measure metrics, communicate metrics to stakeholders
- Interpersonal skills, with an ability to communicate complex subjects with a broad and diverse audience
- Strong analytical and design skills
- Strong written and oral communication
