About The Position

This is a Summer 2027 Engineering Internship position at Sturm, Ruger & Co., Inc. The internship is onsite and offers exposure to a manufacturing environment that promotes innovation, teamwork, and various facets of modern manufacturing. Interns will gain experience that will enhance their resumes, working on projects that can be implemented into the production line. The role involves working directly with a mentor on a manufacturing line, with assigned summer projects. Interns will also shadow mentors, attend design reviews and new product development meetings, interact with outside suppliers, and plan product flow and improvements. A key aspect of the role is cultivating a 'Servant Leader' atmosphere, focusing on solving problems and providing solutions to manufacturing line associates. The internship concludes with a presentation to engineering and management.

Requirements

  • Sophomore year completed
  • Enrolled in an Accredited Engineering Degree Program
  • Temporarily relocate to one of the three Ruger facilities for the duration of the internship
  • Ability to work 40+ hours per week
  • Any CAD or Modeling experience

Responsibilities

  • Design and build something that will be implemented into the production line.
  • Monitor project progress in design review settings.
  • Complete portions of the project individually and with other Ruger employees.
  • Shadow mentor in supporting production.
  • Attend design reviews.
  • Attend new product development meetings.
  • Interact with outside suppliers.
  • Plan product flow and improvements to manufacturing.
  • Work directly with production associates to learn manufacturing methods in real time.
  • Solve problems and provide solutions to manufacturing line associates.
  • Create and deliver a presentation to engineering and management at the end of the internship.
