About The Position

Sturm, Ruger & Co., Inc. is offering a Summer Engineering Internship (onsite) that provides exposure to a manufacturing environment promoting innovation, teamwork, and modern manufacturing practices. Interns will gain valuable experience on their resume by working on various aspects of manufacturing. The internship is designed to provide hands-on experience and project-based learning, with opportunities to shadow mentors, attend meetings, interact with suppliers, and collaborate with production associates. The program emphasizes a 'Servant Leader' atmosphere, focusing on problem-solving and providing solutions to manufacturing lines. Interns will also develop communication skills through a final presentation to engineering and management.

Requirements

• Sophomore year completed
• Enrolled in an Accredited Engineering Degree Program
• Temporarily relocate to one of the three Ruger facilities for the duration of the internship
• Ability to work 40+ hours per week
• Any CAD or Modeling experience

• Mastercam or similar CAM software

• Process Capability Studies
• Technical Writing
• Prior Production Experience
• Metrology Experience

Responsibilities

• Work directly with a mentor on a manufacturing line.
• Design and build a project to be implemented into the production line.
• Monitor project progress through design reviews.
• Complete project portions individually and with other employees.
• Shadow mentor in supporting production.
• Attend design reviews and new product development meetings.
• Interact with outside suppliers.
• Plan product flow and manufacturing improvements.
• Work directly with production associates to learn manufacturing methods.
• Solve problems and provide solutions to manufacturing line associates.
• Create a presentation of internship work for engineering and management.
