About The Position

Sturm, Ruger & Co., Inc. is offering a Summer Engineering Internship/Co-op position (onsite) that provides exposure to a manufacturing environment promoting innovation, teamwork, and modern manufacturing practices. The program is designed to enhance a participant's resume through hands-on experience. Interns will work directly with a mentor on manufacturing lines, taking on projects to design and build solutions for implementation into the production line. These projects will be monitored by mentors and engineers, involving both individual work and collaboration with other employees. Past intern projects have included inline gages, automatic part marking machines, automatic oilers, tool cost savings initiatives, and laser marking stations. Interns will also shadow mentors, attend design reviews and new product development meetings, interact with suppliers, and plan product flow and manufacturing improvements. They will work with production associates to understand manufacturing methods in real-time, fostering a "Servant Leader" atmosphere focused on problem-solving for the production line. The internship concludes with a presentation of their work to engineering and management, practicing communication skills.

Requirements

• Sophomore year completed
• Enrolled in an Accredited Engineering Degree Program
• Temporarily relocate to one of the three Ruger facilities for the duration of the internship
• Ability to work 40+ hours per week
• Any CAD or Modeling experience

Responsibilities

• Design and build projects that will be implemented into the production line.
• Monitor project progress with mentors and engineers.
• Complete project portions individually and with other Ruger employees.
• Shadow mentors in supporting production.

• Interact with outside suppliers.
• Plan product flow and improvements to manufacturing.

• Solve problems and provide solutions to manufacturing line associates.
• Create a presentation of internship work for engineering and management.
