About The Position

Turn engineering principles into meaningful operational improvements as an Engineering Project Management Intern at Nemacolin. Through hands-on project work, you will analyze workflows, interpret operational data, improve processes, and support Engineering and Facilities initiatives across a complex luxury resort. From labor efficiency and preventative maintenance to sustainability, technology, and guest experience, this 12-week internship connects data-driven thinking with Forbes Five-Star and AAA Five-Diamond service standards while building practical skills for a career in industrial engineering, operations, or hospitality.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required
  • Current enrollment in or recent graduation from a bachelor’s degree program in industrial engineering or a related discipline
  • Previous internship or coursework in process improvement or operations analysis
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Interest in hospitality, luxury service, or resort operations

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI
  • Understanding of Lean or Six Sigma methodologies
  • Exposure to facilities management systems or Engineering operations

Responsibilities

  • Analyze workflows, labor, productivity, and service processes across departments and develop data-driven recommendations that improve performance.
  • Conduct time studies, labor modeling, develop standard operating procedures, and apply Lean, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational consistency.
  • Collect and analyze data, create dashboards, and generate reports to provide leaders with visibility into KPIs such as labor efficiency, response times, and maintenance performance.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance planning, scheduling optimization, work-order tracking, asset management, and equipment performance analysis.
  • Analyze energy and water usage and support initiatives that improve resource efficiency.
  • Identify operational improvements that increase efficiency without compromising luxury service standards to enhance guest experiences.
  • Support cost reduction, service innovation, new systems, and emerging technologies by tracking timelines, deliverables, implementation, and results.
  • Participate in inspections and quality assurance reviews to identify opportunities for improvement in facility quality.
  • Complete an experiential project connecting academic learning with a meaningful operational challenge.
