About The Position

This position involves reviewing construction plans to ensure compliance with permit standards and specifications, particularly for paving and various underground utility installations. The role includes inspecting construction activities, preparing reports, and collaborating with contractors, engineers, RCOC staff, and local government officials to address and resolve issues related to Permit projects. The job requires performing duties safely, professionally, and courteously to maintain a positive image of the Road Commission for Oakland County. A daily schedule that aligns with RCOC's operating hours is necessary, and regular, predictable onsite attendance is an essential function.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent with math training sufficient to calculate volumes.
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in construction inspection, commensurate with duties described above.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid State of Michigan Driver’s License.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Possess a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Review construction plans to determine conformance with permit standards and specifications which include paving and a broad range of underground utility installations.
  • Inspect construction activities and prepare related reports.
  • Interact with contractors, engineers, RCOC staff and local government officials to answer questions and resolve issues with Permit projects.
  • Perform duties in a safe, professional, and courteous manner to promote a positive image of the Road Commission for Oakland County.
  • Support RCOC hours of operation with a daily schedule.
  • Attend job onsite regularly and predictably as an essential function of this position.
