About the position
As the Director of Engineering at Wayve, you will be responsible for managing the Embodied AI group within the Software Engineering organization. Your role will involve working closely with business leadership and industry partners to shape and develop autonomous driving technology. You will be tasked with delivering an autonomous vehicle capability roadmap, including training and tuning production models, as well as developing the Robotics software stack. Additionally, you will establish solid ML practices, attract technical leadership, and provide guidance to Engineering Managers within your area. Your contribution will be crucial to Wayve's mission of revolutionizing self-driving cars.
Responsibilities
- Manage the Embodied AI group within the Software Engineering organization
- Work directly with business leadership and industry partners to shape products
- Develop an autonomous vehicle capability roadmap with production-level quality
- Collect, filter, and select relevant training data for AI models
- Train, tune, and debug production models
- Develop the Robotics software stack
- Prove the technology in multiple geographical areas
- Establish solid ML practices and attract technical leadership
- Lead and grow the Robotics and Production Model and Data teams
- Set the technical direction and ensure deliverables align with company objectives
- Provide leadership and guidance to Engineering Managers
- Coordinate with others across Wayve
- Work with leaders across the company to ensure career growth for teams
- Define and own the technical vision, strategy, and metrics for the area
- Build a massive-scale fleet learning platform and neural network for driving intelligence
- Demonstrate the system's ability to adapt to different vehicles and cities
- Maintain a culture of impact, performance, and health
- Build technical capabilities and develop talented engineers
- Develop career plans and growth trajectories for team members
Requirements
- Experience in managing a technical team within a software engineering organization
- Strong understanding of autonomous driving technology and AI+Robotics autonomy software
- Ability to work closely with business leadership and industry partners to shape products
- Responsible for delivering an autonomous vehicle capability roadmap with production-level quality
- Experience in collecting, filtering, and selecting relevant training data for AI models
- Proficient in training, tuning, and debugging production models
- Knowledge of developing Robotics software stack
- Ability to establish solid ML practices and attract technical leadership
- Leadership and guidance skills to manage Engineering Managers and steer teams
- Strong technical vision, strategy, and metrics for the area
- Experience in building massive-scale fleet learning platforms and neural networks
- Ability to demonstrate system adaptability to different vehicles and cities
- Collaboration with senior leadership team to maintain a culture of impact, performance, and health
- Capability to develop talented engineers and build resilient systems
