About The Position

AMS is seeking an Engineering Data Analyst to support analysis of instrumentation data collected from operating nuclear power plants as part of its Online Monitoring (OLM) program. OLM uses sensor measurements and engineering analysis to assess the performance, reliability, and long-term health of critical plant instrumentation and help determine whether calibration or maintenance may be needed. This applied engineering and data analysis role involves working with real nuclear plant data, proprietary engineering software, instrumentation systems, field data acquisition activities, and technically rigorous reporting. The analyst contributes to engineering evaluations and reports used by nuclear utilities to make maintenance and calibration decisions that support plant safety, reliability, and cost reductions. Training is provided in AMS’s OLM methodology and software, nuclear plant instrumentation and work practices, nuclear safety culture, licensing strategies, quality assurance, and technical reporting. The position is intended to develop an engineer who can grow into independently performing OLM analysis, supporting field testing, preparing engineering reports, and helping advance AMS’s condition-based maintenance technologies. The role requires travel to nuclear power plants and customer facilities as needed, and U.S. citizenship is required due to contractual, regulatory, and facility-access requirements. The position is onsite.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nuclear Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related technical discipline.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work with numerical data, engineering software, spreadsheets, technical documentation, and structured analysis processes.
  • Strong attention to detail in data review, analysis, documentation, and report preparation.
  • Ability to follow established engineering procedures and work within a quality-assured environment.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet established project and report deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel to nuclear power plants and customer facilities as needed.
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to contractual, regulatory, and nuclear facility access requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • No prior OLM experience is required; training will be provided.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze sensor measurement data from operating nuclear power plants to evaluate pressure, level, and flow instrumentation performance and condition.
  • Apply AMS’s OLM methodology to plant startup, steady-state, and shutdown data.
  • Use proprietary AMS software to organize, process, analyze, and review plant instrumentation data.
  • Identify trends, anomalies, data gaps, unusual instrument behavior, and potential issues requiring further technical evaluation.
  • Prepare draft OLM mid-cycle and end-of-cycle reports documenting analysis results, conclusions, and recommended actions.
  • Support preparation of technical information for OLM amenability evaluations, limits reports, drift analyses, noise analyses, and related licensing documentation.
  • Review transmitter definitions, plant data, supporting documentation, and analysis inputs for completeness, consistency, and technical accuracy.
  • Participate in on-site data acquisition and testing at nuclear power plants and customer facilities as needed.
  • Assist with plant-trip preparation, including pre-trip research, equipment configuration, documentation, checkout, and verification.
  • Support field testing teams by acquiring data, documenting testing activities, performing preliminary analysis, and helping prepare customer deliverables.
  • Complete plant-trip and laboratory documentation, internal trip reports, analysis notebooks, and quality assurance records.
  • Support quality assurance testing of OLM-related software by executing test plans, documenting results, and reporting discrepancies.
  • Learn and apply applicable nuclear industry standards, regulatory and customer requirements, AMS procedures, and quality assurance processes.
  • Work with senior engineers and technical leaders to resolve analysis questions and ensure results are accurate, defensible, and clearly communicated.
  • Suggest improvements to OLM analysis methods, software tools, procedures, reporting processes, and service quality.

Benefits

  • Health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, with generous employer contributions.
  • 401(k) with generous employer matching contributions.
  • 20 days of annual vacation plus at least 10 paid holidays per year.
  • Mentorship by senior engineers and PhDs, access to professional conferences, and continuing education opportunities in nuclear engineering and advanced analysis.
  • Annual salary reviews, raises, and advancement opportunities.
