About The Position

The Engineering Applications Lead is responsible for the operational ownership and lifecycle management of the firm’s engineering application portfolio, ensuring platforms are stable, supported, appropriately versioned, and aligned to business and project delivery needs. This role leads and participates in the coordination of support, upgrades, issue resolution, and continuous improvement activities across engineering tools, working closely with Engineering leadership, enterprise application teams, vendors, and other specialized technical partners. As a hands-on leader, this role establishes support and governance practices, prioritizes maintenance and enhancement work, and ensures engineering applications are managed as reliable, business-critical services while partnering with other teams where integrations or specialized capabilities are required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, information systems, computer science, construction technology, or a related field is required. Equivalent years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • 7+ years of experience supporting, administering, or managing engineering/design applications in architecture, engineering, construction, or a related environment required.
  • Strong working knowledge of engineering/design platforms such as Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, BIM 360, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), Forma, or similar ecosystems required.
  • Demonstrated experience with application lifecycle management, including upgrades, version control, release planning, issue resolution, and operational support required.
  • Experience managing stakeholder priorities, vendor relationships, and cross-functional coordination across business and technology teams required.
  • Experience leading or coordinating support processes, service improvements, and platform governance required.
  • Experience with software configuration, plug-in management, environment standards, and compatibility considerations across engineering platforms required.
  • Strong communication, documentation, prioritization, and organizational skills required.

  • Experience with automation tools, APIs, scripting, or engineering platform customizations is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Own the operational health and service delivery model for the engineering applications portfolio.
  • Establish and maintain support processes, service expectations, escalation paths, and operating rhythms for engineering platforms.
  • Partner with Engineering, IT, and business stakeholders to define priorities, manage trade-offs, and ensure application services align with operational needs.
  • Monitor service performance, recurring issues, and portfolio risks and drive actions to improve stability, usability, and support effectiveness.
  • Maintain visibility into application health, major incidents, upgrade readiness, and key service metrics.
  • Lead response coordination for major issues impacting engineering applications and ensure appropriate escalation, communication, and resolution follow-through.
  • Establish disciplined incident, problem, and change management practices for the engineering application portfolio.
  • Identify trends in support demand and recurring issues and drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Balance urgent production support needs with planned maintenance, upgrades, and continuous improvement work.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation exists for support procedures, known issues, release changes, and operational dependencies.
  • Oversee the lifecycle management of engineering applications, including version planning, patching, upgrades, compatibility reviews, and retirement planning.
  • Coordinate release calendars, testing readiness, deployment planning, and communication for engineering application changes.
  • Partner with vendors to manage support cases, product issues, roadmap visibility, licensing considerations, and upgrade dependencies.
  • Ensure engineering applications are administered and governed in a manner consistent with enterprise technology, security, and support standards.
  • Evaluate enhancement opportunities and configuration options to improve platform effectiveness while maintaining long-term supportability.
  • Lead intake and prioritization of engineering application requests, enhancements, defects, and operational improvements.
  • Translate stakeholder needs into a manageable backlog with clear priorities, timelines, and ownership.
  • Coordinate improvement efforts across engineering application specialists, enterprise applications resources, vendors, and other technical teams as needed.
  • Drive incremental improvements that reduce support burden, improve user experience, and increase platform consistency and reliability.
  • Provide clear reporting on priorities, progress, risks, and dependencies to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Lead and develop assigned engineering application resources, including workload management, coaching, goal setting, performance feedback, and capability development.
  • Establish clear role expectations, support responsibilities, and team operating rhythms.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, responsiveness, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Help shape the future organization design and resourcing needs for engineering applications as the function matures.
