About The Position

At Corbion, we exist to champion preservation in all its forms, preserving food and food production, health, and our planet. As our next Engineering and Technology Manager, you will lead the technology and engineering efforts at our Blair site, supporting both the lactic acid and the derivatives operations. In this key site leadership role, you will guide a team, partner closely with operations, maintenance, and quality, and serve as a member of the site management team. On the technology side, you will work with the Corbion OpCos platform and the Operations Service Center to identify, share and implement best practices throughout Corbion worldwide. On the engineering side, you will identify, scope and execute capital engineering projects, for the Blair plant, that improve safety, quality, efficiency, reliability and cost performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Technical Field required. Degree in Chemical Engineering preferred.
  • 7+ years’ experience with significant exposure to capital project management and technology projects.
  • 7+ years’ experience in managing/supervising employees.
  • Solid technical and engineering capabilities in process understanding and capital projects design and management.
  • Results oriented mindset.
  • Data driven process management skills.
  • Extensive problem solving skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced, team environment.
  • Fully Proficient in Excel, Word, and Auto CAD.
  • Management and exceptional leadership skills.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must have command of the English language.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop process and technology improvement opportunities that support future savings, efficiency, safety, quality, and operational performance.
  • Recruit, lead, coach and develop the Engineering and Technology team, building capability into the team to meet current business needs while supporting the growth and development for team members.
  • Assist your team with and maintain accountability for the successful execution of budgeted capital projects. This includes final responsibility, taking the lead in negotiating contracts over $50k and approving any contracts over $20k for the purchase of main equipment or contractor services.
  • Develop accurate capital investment estimates, savings projections, and return evaluations to support sound business decisions.
  • Manage capital projects to deliver on approved scope, schedule, budget, safety, quality, and operational requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and help foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and proactive problem solving.
  • Partner with Operations, Maintenance, QESH, Finance, and other stakeholders to ensure projects are safe, maintainable, operable, and aligned with business priorities.
  • Executes QESH standards according to defined roles and responsibilities to ensure personal safety, product safety and quality.
  • Performs within the guidelines of all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), Security measures, Housekeeping, Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Point (HACCP), all quality, regulatory, environmental, safety and health guidelines and regulations. These standards are used in all daily activities to ensure product safety and quality are in compliance.
