About The Position

This role involves leading and engaging in various planning activities to ensure compatibility among asynchronous system upgrades, considering both technical and schedule impacts. The position requires utilizing expert engineering knowledge to ensure electrical devices and/or systems function safely, reliably, efficiently, and economically. Responsibilities include leading and working with team members to identify project risks and mitigation plans, acting as a subject matter expert, and participating in USW Combat Systems Integrated Product Team (IPTs) meetings. The role also involves reviewing and analyzing system requirement specifications and technical design review packages, engaging in system engineering efforts (cost, schedule, and technical aspects), and mentoring team members. A key aspect is planning activities to ensure compatibility between OHIO Ship and Strategic Weapon System Upgrades in accordance with the Strategic Systems Program Coordination Process.

Requirements

  • Submarine Weapons Officer or similar experience
  • BS and 5-7 years' experience, MS and 3-5 years' experience, PhD and 0-2 years' experience
  • Advanced knowledge of networks and other electronic interfaces.
  • Ability to analyze complex problems and develop options and recommendations.
  • Advanced knowledge of USW platform and environmental requirements.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering practices and procedures as they pertain to sustainment, modification, logistics, and production management principles, concepts, policies, and systems and of standard acquisition, regulations, practices, and procedures.
  • Skills in communicating both orally and in writing.
  • Advanced ability to conduct tests independently and verify system requirements.
  • Advanced ability to apply advanced engineering knowledge of the principles, techniques, and practices of electronics engineering, pertaining to electronic circuits, circuit elements, equipment, and systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of Combat Control Systems operation, function, design, and architecture.
  • Advanced knowledge of Non-Propulsion Electronics Subsystems, both with respect to operation, function, design, and architecture.
  • Active Secret level security clearance

  • Reviewing and analyzing system requirement specifications and technical design review packages and providing subject matter expert comments and updates.
  • Engaging in system engineering efforts including cost and schedule as well as technical aspects.
  • Working with and mentoring team members in developing project risks and associated mitigation plans.
  • Leading and engaging in various planning activities to ensure compatibility between OHIO Ship and Strategic Weapon System Upgrades in accordance with the Strategic Systems Program Coordination Process.
