The Orange & Rockland Summer Internship is a paid, 10–12-week opportunity for college students to gain hands-on experience, develop skills, and build a professional network. The internship is estimated to begin in June and end in August or September. Positions are available across Orange and Rockland counties, with placements based on business needs. Engineering Aides assist technicians and engineers who support safe, reliable, and cost-effective energy delivery across electric, gas, and steam operations. Assignments may include administrative and project management support; data collection and analysis; forecasting and strategy development; procedure reviews; design scoping and development; work management oversight; and other operational support, depending on department needs. Interns perform entry-level assignments in various departments or sections to develop a broad understanding of Orange & Rockland's structure and operations. The program may include work-site tours, an industry speaker series, volunteer events, presentations of project work to department leaders, and networking with employees. This is an interest posting for students pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in an eligible engineering discipline. The recruitment team will match applicants with department requests; candidates selected for a specific opportunity will receive a more detailed job description and interview invitation. Interviews are expected in April, with results shared within one to three weeks. This position does not provide employment pursuant to the terms of a STEM OPT Training Plan. The selected candidate will be assigned an emergency response role and may be required to work non-business hours during emergencies, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
