About The Position

FSH Tech builds modern software for public-sector organizations, including local governments, schools, libraries, and emergency services. The company is a small, high-agency team focused on improving public services through modern software. Its engineering work uses Python, Postgres, Unix, TypeScript, and React, along with internal tools that deterministically generate Python and TypeScript.

The Platform Engineer will help build FSH’s configurable software approach, modeled on Postgres: describing what a product does rather than how it works. The team uses internal code-generation tools to translate declarative configuration files into bespoke full-stack applications. The platform engineering team maintains these tools and serves other engineering teams as customers.

Employees are expected to live in New York City or Philadelphia and work from the company office in either location.

Requirements

• Experience shipping software to users.
• Experience building and maintaining platforms (listed as preferred in the posting).
• Demonstrated enthusiasm for civic engagement.
• Belief that programming is a creative pursuit and that abstractions can simplify complexity.
• Strong interest in focused learning and pattern seeking.
• Live in New York City or Philadelphia and work from the office in either location.
