About The Position

The Engineer Lead directs daily hotel maintenance operations, leads and schedules the engineering team, and helps ensure the property operates smoothly and safely. The role includes performing preventative maintenance, responding to guest requests and work orders, and carrying out repairs and upkeep in areas such as carpentry, painting, plumbing, and other trades. The Engineer Lead also inspects the property and grounds, monitors lighting and irrigation, and ensures the pool and spa meet health codes. Administrative duties include maintaining maintenance forms and engineering records and assisting with setup for meetings and events. The position is at Hilton Baton Rouge, a full-service hotel in downtown Baton Rouge.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Ability to work unsupervised.
Ability to handle financial information and perform basic arithmetic.
Valid driver’s license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Driving Record required; this requirement is property-specific.

Nice To Haves

Experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
Trade license in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, or a related trade preferred.

Responsibilities

Lead daily maintenance operations and assign projects to the maintenance team.
Perform preventative maintenance, respond to guest calls, and complete work orders.
Carry out maintenance and repairs, including carpentry, painting, plumbing, and related work.
Address safety concerns promptly, report problems, and remove hazards.
Coordinate team schedules and encourage strong team performance.
Respond promptly to guest room repair requests and provide positive guest service.
Inspect the property and grounds, maintain lighting and irrigation, and ensure the pool and spa meet health codes.
Maintain maintenance forms and engineering records.
Assist with setup for special meetings and events.
