About The Position

Ames Construction is hiring an Engineer Intern for Summer 2027. The intern will support project sites through project management, document control, and collaboration with safety personnel and field operations. The role provides hands-on work experience and guidance, as well as opportunities to establish professional contacts in the industry. The initial project is in Belle Glade, Florida; subsequent projects will be nationally based. Travel to project locations and regional offices is expected. The position requires ensuring compliance with CMMC, FAR, and Accounting Standards in all Federal efforts.

Requirements

• Be pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Construction Management.
• Have current college junior or senior status.
• Be computer literate in Word, Excel, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Outlook.
• Have strong organizational, written, verbal, and time management skills.
• Have good attention to detail and the ability to recognize discrepancies.
• Have a positive attitude and excellent self-motivational skills.
• Be able to perform under schedule restraints.
• Have a valid driver’s license.
• Be physically able to stand, walk, crawl, bend, reach, and climb in a construction site environment.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working on civil or other construction sites.

Responsibilities

• Support highway heavy/civil construction sites, project management, or estimating.
• Assist with document control, submittals, and monthly billing.
• Assist with field operations and safety or environmental requirements.
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
