By joining our Developmental Branch as a Engineer In Training II in Franklin County, you’ll have the opportunity to work on meaningful transportation projects while helping shape the future of engineering across Kentucky. You'll gain hands-on roadway design experience, develop expertise in OpenRoads Designer (ORD), contribute to statewide CADD standards and engineering policy, evaluate emerging technologies, and collaborate with every Highway District.

Requirements

  • Proficiency with OpenRoads Designer.
  • The KYTC highway design workflow.
  • Working with the KYTC Standard Drawings.
  • Working with a team.
  • Problem-solving and analytical thinking.
  • Graduate of a college or university with an accredited bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Two years of engineering experience as an Engineer-In-Training.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license prior to employment in this job classification.
  • Certification as an Engineer-In-Training recognized by the Kentucky Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors.
  • Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification.

Nice To Haves

  • A master's degree in engineering will substitute for one year of the required experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with roadway design and project development.
  • Support statewide CADD and ORD initiatives.
  • Develop engineering plans, models, and deliverables.
  • Assist with software testing and standards development.
  • Collaborate with engineers across Kentucky.
