Engineer III, Cloud - Authentication & Authorization (Hybrid)
About The Position
Join CrowdStrike’s cloud backend team in the Platform product group, which is responsible for authentication and authorization. The team handles internal authorization, such as service-to-service authorization, and external authentication and authorization, such as user login. It works collaboratively with many product groups and builds and extends services that make more than one trillion decisions per day. In this role, you will apply distributed technologies and algorithms, API and systems design, and high-scale coding to build a platform that supports millions of events per second and terabytes of data per day. The position is hybrid and requires working on-site 2–3 days per week at one of the posted locations.
Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science or commensurate experience in data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
- At least 6 years of backend development experience.
- Ability to scale backend systems, including sharding, partitioning, and horizontal scaling.
- Deep understanding of distributed systems and scalability challenges.
- Deep understanding of multithreading, concurrency, and parallel-processing technologies.
- Team-oriented collaboration skills.
- Thorough understanding of engineering best practices, including appropriate testing, effective peer code reviews, and resilient architecture.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, test-driven, collaborative, and iterative programming environment.
- Ability to meet commitments on time and produce high-quality software that is unit tested, code reviewed, and checked in regularly for continuous integration.
- Proven experience using AI technologies to enhance decision-making, streamline workflows and processes, improve efficiency, and drive business outcomes.
Nice To Haves
- Authored and led successful open-source libraries and projects.
- Exposure to Go, AWS, GCP, SpiceDB, OpenFGA, Zanzibar, Kafka, or Elasticsearch.
- Familiarity with SAML, OAuth, SSO, OIDC, or JWT.
- Prior experience in cybersecurity or intelligence fields.
Responsibilities
- Lead backend engineering efforts, from rapid prototypes to large-scale applications across CrowdStrike products.
- Leverage and build cloud-based systems to detect targeted attacks and automate cyber threat intelligence production at a global scale.
- Brainstorm, define, and build collaboratively with members across multiple teams.
- Champion learning and new technologies, and help raise the technical knowledge of the team.
- Mentor and be mentored by developers in web, backend, and data storage technologies and systems.
- Continuously evaluate and improve product architecture, knowledge models, user experience, performance, and stability.
- Take ownership of deliverables and be accountable for commitments.
- Use and contribute to the open-source community.
