Electric Boat, Department 475, is seeking a highly motivated individual to join its team of experienced IT Network Engineers. We are looking for someone who is just starting or early on in their IT career and is eager to gain network administration experience. The successful candidate will be expected to attend training sessions to maintain and improve skill sets as well as cross train peers. The position provides challenging work and a means to continue gaining technical skills and broadening experience. Department 475 is responsible for managing the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program (NNPP) Network (NNPP Net) at Electric Boat. The EB LAN portion of the NNPP Net consists of Electric Boat users across the country including the east coast and pacific northwest. The network is expanding to support many changes including new construction, maintenance and modernization contracts, and to meet changing security requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or related field
  • 0-5 years relevant experience
  • Foundational knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VLANs
  • Familiarity with Cisco IOS, Junos, or similar network operating systems
  • Applicant must possess, or be able to obtain, a DoD Top Secret clearance

Nice To Haves

  • CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate), CompTIA Network+, or CompTIA Security+
  • Basic knowledge of Python, Bash, Git, and/or Ansible for automation
  • Self-motivated, cooperative, learning agility
  • Ability to work independently with some oversight
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated multitasking and prioritization abilities

Responsibilities

  • Managing, administering, troubleshooting, and maintaining network routers, firewalls (Palo Alto), switches (Cisco), and network encryptors (TACLANE)
  • Participating in campus fiber planning/projects
  • Working with teams to implement cyber security initiatives including network firewalls
  • Working with senior Network Engineers to address network security patching and vulnerability management
  • Attending training sessions to maintain and improve skillsets
  • Participating in network related projects involving multiple teams
  • Monitoring system performance
  • Other tasks and duties as needed
  • Implementing government standard configurations to network equipment
