About The Position

The Language Resource Center (LRC) is seeking an Engagement and Outreach Coordinator to help expand awareness and participation in the LRC’s language and intercultural learning opportunities. In this role, you will coordinate and promote special language initiatives, including Conversation Hours, language tutoring, World Languages Day, Lingua Mater, and Sweet Poetry. You will build relationships across the university and broader community to promote these programs, engage students, and help create a welcoming environment for language learners.

Requirements

  • An Associate’s degree and 2-4 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent level of intercultural competence is required.
  • Strong communication, writing, and presentation skills, with an emphasis on interpersonal interactions.
  • Aptitude to work effectively in a dynamic, deadline-driven, complex, team-based environment with multiple competing priorities.
  • Excellent organizational, multi-tasking, and detail-oriented skills.
  • Strong collaboration and listening skills.
  • Social media and sharing platforms experience.
  • Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related area.
  • Experience as language student.
  • Visual media skills (specifically, Google Suite, Canva).

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and promote LRC language initiatives and programs to increase student awareness and participation.
  • Develop and maintain contacts across the university and broader community to support outreach and program promotion.
  • Assist with the implementation of the LRC’s social media strategy and create engaging content to promote programs and events.
  • Serve as staff advisor to LRC student organizations.
  • Collaborate with student assistants on advocacy and outreach campaigns highlighting the importance of language learning and intercultural competence.
  • Attend and, when appropriate, co-coordinate events such as International Fair, student orientations, and other related programs.
  • Support additional LRC initiatives and projects as needed.
