About The Position

EPRI’s Energy Storage and Distributed Generation team conducts research on energy storage technology, economics, safety, and operation to support utilities and the energy industry. The team works with utilities, project developers, technology manufacturers, safety personnel, industry organizations, and other stakeholders to advance the safe, effective, and practical deployment of energy storage technologies. The Energy Storage Engineer/Staff Level II regularly demonstrates creativity and ingenuity in providing technical solutions. The role works directly with EPRI staff and independently engages with members and industry. It performs advanced technical analysis with minimal direction, conducts independent research, and begins managing small, less-complex projects. The position exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives and approaches for assigned work and provides guidance to junior staff. The role supports energy storage demonstration projects and safety research, evaluates established and emerging technologies, reviews project progress and technical results, and communicates findings to EPRI members and external stakeholders. It also develops relationships with program advisors and industry stakeholders and contributes to customer-needs assessments, proposals, publications, presentations, and industry events.
