About The Position

Cenergistic helps schools, universities, hospitals, and government organizations reduce energy waste without capital investment. Since 1986, our clients have redirected more than $7.3 billion in utility savings back to classrooms, patient care, and public services. We’ve also been named an ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year 13 times. This role involves being embedded with one client and taking ownership of energy performance across their buildings, typically around 20 locations. The job focuses on identifying and addressing energy waste such as HVAC running when not needed, lights left on, incorrect thermostat or EMS settings, and unnecessary plug loads. The Energy Specialist will build relationships with various client personnel to implement lasting changes. The company provides training in energy conservation, building systems, and their methodology, and is looking for individuals with warm assertiveness, problem-solving skills, independence, and a desire for measurable results.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable personal transportation
  • Current auto insurance and ability to provide proof of insurance
  • Comfort with Microsoft Office and learning new technology
  • Strong communication, influencing, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and follow issues through to resolution
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule

Responsibilities

  • Conduct building audits and identify energy-saving opportunities
  • Analyze utility data and investigate unusual energy use
  • Deploy sensors and use energy-management tools
  • Track findings and follow issues through to resolution
  • Prepare reports and present results to client leadership
  • Spend time in buildings looking for energy waste: HVAC running when no one is there, lights left on, incorrect thermostat or EMS settings, unnecessary plug loads, and other operational issues.
  • Get identified energy waste addressed.
  • Build relationships with custodians, facilities teams, principals, administrators, and client leadership, and use those relationships to turn what you find into lasting changes.
