About The Position

Perform necessary activities to plan, coordinate, manage, and continue development of the Red Cliff Tribal Energy Sovereignty Goals in collaboration with all Tribal Departments and partners.

Requirements

Experience working within tribal governments, stakeholders, and political environments, including clear understanding of tribal consultation processes and decision-making that impacts energy sovereignty.
Expertise in planning, managing, and implementing projects, programs, and initiatives of renewable energy projects.
Knowledge of funding opportunities, new and emerging developments in the technology of renewable energy.
Bachelor’s degree in sustainability, renewable energy, electrical engineering or a closely related field is preferred but not required.
Two to four years of experience in a related field is highly recommended but not required.
Strong written, verbal and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate energy and climate related issues to non-technical audiences.
Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude and ability to read blueprints and understand building energy systems.
Must have strong proficiency using computers, GIS, Microsoft applications, specifically Excel.
Must have exceptional organizational skills and the ability to work alone and/or with a diverse group of people.
This position must possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license, vehicle, and appropriate vehicle coverage as a condition of employment.
Be eligible to be put on the Tribe’s vehicle insurance policy.

Nice To Haves

Experience in the electrical or HVAC field is preferred.
Experience in using Energy Star Portfolio Manager is preferred.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain Red Cliff’s Energy Program and strategic plans.
Develop and maintain relationships with partners necessary to meet Tribal Energy Program goals and project. This includes inter-tribal, private and public agencies.
Participate in planning, development, and implementation of energy conservation and renewable energy projects. This may include solar, wind, geothermal, electric vehicles, and other emerging technology or opportunities.
Identify potential Energy Program funding opportunities for tribal projects and goals.
Complete tasks as required associated with funding sources relevant to this position and projects.
Coordinate staff and community training opportunities related to clean energy, energy conservation, and energy sovereignty.
