About The Position

This position is responsible for scheduling clients for all of KCR’s Energy Assistance Programs and file maintenance. This position works directly with individuals seeking assistance with their energy bills, we work with vulnerable and low-income populations. This position provides urgent relief for a high volume of clients on a daily basis. Kitsap Community Resources (KCR) is a nonprofit, private, social services agency. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED plus 2.5 years’ experience in the clerical field preferred.
  • Bi-lingual Spanish or other language preferred.
  • De-escalation skills and conflict management preferred.
  • Must be comfortable working with vulnerable populations: elderly, disabled, mentally ill, as well as those with a history of alcohol and/or substance abuse.
  • Ability to pass State and/or Federal Background Checks as determined by position (prior to hire date).
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Demonstrates the ability to complete work with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Familiar with Windows based programs.
  • Demonstrates ability to interact directly with low-income households and community partners.
  • Demonstrates empathy and works compassionately with the socio-economic problems and needs of low-income populations.
  • Demonstrates articulate written and verbal communication.
  • Position requires intermittent sitting, standing, walking, twisting, and bending.
  • Must be able to lift up to 10 to 20 pounds with assistance if needed.
  • Cognitive ability to recognize and address safety concerns.
  • Cognitive and emotional ability to work directly with clients in need, which may include homelessness, mental health issues, substance abuse, or other mental or physical barriers.
  • Cognitive and physical abilities to be able to collect, identify, store and secure PII, PHI and other confidential information.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with KCR Polices & Procedures.
  • Report to and accepts assignments from the Energy Program Coordinator and Energy Program Manager.
  • Answers email and phone calls in a timely and professional manner, and routes calls when necessary.
  • Performs general administrative tasks including faxing, scanning, and maintaining client files, sorts and distributes mail.
  • Schedules and tracks appointments and informs clients of other community services.
  • Completes preliminary screening of potentially eligible clients for all Energy Programs and obtains accurate documentation.
  • Prints all computer-designed forms used by the Energy Department.
  • Pulls and files back client files for scheduled appointments and establishes holds on accounts when necessary.
  • Sends out applications to homebound, disabled, and mail-in applicants.
  • Covers the main front lobby desk as needed, such as if someone calls out and relieves the front desk person for breaks and lunches.
  • Attends and participates in program and staff meetings, conferences, and training sessions.
