About The Position

Capital Area Community Services, Inc. is hiring an Energy Auditor for the Weatherization Program. This role involves overseeing the completion of all weatherization work according to established standards (DOE and MDHHS), and assisting with energy conservation programs through energy audits of residential properties. The Energy Auditor will record data, generate work orders for contractors, and ensure quality installations and client satisfaction through field follow-through and inspections.

Requirements

  • Knowledge equivalent to approximately one year of technical, vocational, or trade school with coursework in construction methods and terminology, building codes, and a firm understanding of DOE rules including Standard Work Specifications and MDHHS CSPMs.
  • Must have or obtain BPI EA/QCI certification from an IREC accredited training provider within 6 months.

  • Computer skills (Microsoft Office, work order management software).
  • Basic math and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct energy audits at client homes according to detailed formats, including performing tests like blower door and pressure tests, assessing site conditions, and documenting findings.
  • Educate clients on energy savings and identify potential health and safety hazards.
  • Determine and document energy-saving products and functions, such as LED bulbs and water temperature adjustments.
  • Use company-provided tools and equipment for testing.
  • Communicate with clients to schedule appointments and document collected information.
  • Develop work orders with specifications for contractors.
  • Review contractor billing, verify bid prices against work performed, and ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Inspect completed work for conformity with work orders, bills, and weatherization guidelines.
  • Verify client folders contain all required paperwork from funding sources and agency requirements.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality with clients and staff.
  • Abide by all CACS Safety policies and procedures.
  • Present a professional and positive image as a representative of CACS.
  • Perform other duties as required to ensure the success of the Weatherization program.
