About The Position

The Endoscopy Technician cares for technical equipment used in endoscopic procedures and supports physicians during diagnostic and therapeutic gastrointestinal procedures. The role prioritizes infection control and safe procedures by cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilizing equipment. The technician prepares patients, supplies, and instruments for procedures, documents required information, and monitors assigned performance-improvement tasks. The position requires a 30-minute on-call response time and is scheduled for days.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED, or appropriate work experience.
• American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Ability to meet a 30-minute on-call response time.

Responsibilities

• Determine whether equipment is appropriate for scheduled procedures and identify equipment that should be replaced or repaired.
• Clean, disinfect, and sterilize equipment according to infection-control protocols so it is ready for the next use.
• Assist physicians with endoscopic procedures.
• Document procedures as required.
• Prepare patients for endoscopic procedures.
• Ensure supplies and instruments are properly set up for procedures.
• Monitor and document assigned performance-improvement tasks.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and accrediting-agency requirements, including patient safety, infection control, and HIPAA.
