About The Position

The RN Endoscopy provides patient care before, during, and after endoscopic procedures. The nurse educates patients about procedures and gastrointestinal disorders, uses specialized knowledge of diagnostic procedures, manages multiple patients in a fast-paced environment, and responds to complications with confidence and compassion. The position follows a Monday-through-Friday schedule and includes on-call responsibilities. The nurse works collaboratively to support safe, coordinated care and successful patient outcomes.

Requirements

Current nursing license to practice in Louisiana, as defined by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
Current ACLS certification.

Responsibilities

Prioritize, coordinate, and delegate patient care touchpoints.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to ensure appropriate direct patient care.
Maintain and advocate for a safe environment.
Monitor and communicate with patients, families, and appropriate care team members about significant events, changes in patient condition, and questions or concerns.
Explain procedures, treatments, and medications to patients and families as appropriate.
Monitor and carry out Joint Commission infection control and environment of care requirements.
Ensure continuity of care, efficient throughput, consistent communication, and an exceptional patient experience.
Consult with a supervisor when assignments or tasks cannot be completed promptly, effectively, or safely.
Initiate patient and family education using appropriate resources and continuum-of-care services.
Assist team members without being asked.
