About The Position

The Endoscopy Assistant plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the Endoscopy Center. This part-time position involves a variety of responsibilities, from front desk duties to direct patient care and assisting physicians during procedures. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, possess strong customer service skills, and be able to anticipate the needs of patients, staff, and physicians. This role requires a commitment to maintaining a safe, sanitary, and confidential environment for all patients.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • CPR certification is required or willingness to obtain within 3 months of start date.
  • BLS Certification required or ability to gain certification through MNGI within 3 months of start date.
  • Knowledge of Customer Service, Public Safety, and Infection Prevention.
  • Skills in problem-solving, attention to detail, and active listening.
  • Ability to be a self-starter and see work that needs to be done.
  • Ability to anticipate the needs of patients, staff, and physicians.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at once, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Proven success in anticipating the needs of patients, staff, and physicians.
  • Ability to lift and transport up to 50 pounds on occasion.
  • Ability to reach to hang scopes and stock supplies.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and move quickly on their feet.
  • Ability to tolerate personal protective equipment including gowns, gloves, face masks, and eye protection.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to work in a clinical environment and may be exposed to hazardous chemicals or conditions including exposure to blood or other body fluids.
  • Ability to be alert to conditions that may impact the safety of patients, employees, and visitors.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and visitors at the front desk and check in appointments.
  • Assist patients with completing necessary forms while maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and practice regulations.
  • Answer patient and visitor questions and concerns.
  • Maintain a clean and presentable lobby area.
  • Greet and room patients for admitting/recovery/circulating.
  • Safeguard patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including dressing and toileting, and support mobility needs such as ambulation and transfers.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to patients and visitors.
  • Observe and report changes in patients’ condition to nursing staff.
  • Document care provided accurately and promptly.
  • Assist patients during the discharge process.
  • Clean and prepare patient areas, including disinfecting stretchers, remaking beds, and turning over rooms, while maintaining cleanliness of restrooms and exam rooms according to Endoscopy and Infection Control Policies.
  • Monitor, organize, and restock medical and personal care supplies in patient rooms, nursing stations, supply carts, and storage areas, ensuring inventory levels are adequate and reporting low or expired items.
  • Assist physicians during endoscopic procedures by anticipating needs and promptly providing instruments and tools.
  • Prepare procedure rooms with necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Escort patients to and from the procedure room.
  • Provide basic comfort and reassurance to patients during procedures.
  • Accurately document procedural details and cleaning records.
  • Utilize proper regulatory, facility, and infection control standards and techniques.
