About The Position

The Endoscopy Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting physicians during endoscopic procedures and ensuring a smooth patient experience from admission through discharge. This position involves a variety of tasks including front desk duties, assisting patients with daily living activities, preparing procedure rooms, and maintaining a clean and safe clinical environment. The role requires a high level of attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to anticipate the needs of patients, staff, and physicians.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • CPR certification is required or willing to obtain within 3 months of start date.
  • BLS Certification required.
  • Ability to gain BLS certification will be provided through MNGI, must be completed within 3 months of start date.

  • Must be able to tolerate personal protective equipment including; gowns, gloves, face masks and eye protection.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and visitors at the front desk and check in appointments.
  • Assist patients with completing necessary forms while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Answer patient and visitor questions and concerns.
  • Maintain a clean and presentable lobby area.
  • Greet and room patients, safeguarding their privacy and confidentiality.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including dressing, toileting, and mobility needs.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to patients and visitors.
  • Observe and report changes in patients’ condition to nursing staff.
  • Document care provided accurately and promptly.
  • Assist patients during the discharge process.
  • Clean and prepare patient areas, including disinfecting stretchers, remaking beds, and turning over rooms according to policies.
  • Monitor, organize, and restock medical and personal care supplies, ensuring adequate inventory levels.
  • Assist physicians during endoscopic procedures by anticipating needs and providing instruments promptly.
  • Prepare procedure rooms with necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Escort patients to and from the procedure room.
  • Provide basic comfort and reassurance to patients during procedures.
  • Accurately document procedural details and cleaning records.
  • Utilize proper regulatory, facility, and infection control standards and techniques.
