About The Position

Superior Ambulance Service is hiring an EMT in Evanston. EMTs provide safe transportation and quality medical care to sick and injured individuals within the scope of state EMS regulations. The company also provides care for scheduled medical transports. Superior Ambulance Service began in 1959 and is now a locally owned and operated emergency medical services provider employing more than 4,000 licensed EMTs, Paramedics, and Nurses, with more than 500 ambulances serving Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, and Wisconsin. Its services also include critical care and helicopter and fixed-wing emergency medical transportation.

Requirements

NREMT certification or a current state license, or a license pending.
Ability to provide medical care at the EMT or Paramedic level while safely transporting patients.
Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
Ability to operate a vehicle safely in varied conditions, including daytime, nighttime, and inclement weather.
Pass a pre-employment interview, physical and lifting examination, drug screen, and background check.
Attend company-provided training and driving course.

Responsibilities

Provide patient care appropriate to EMT training.
Transport patients safely and efficiently, including navigating by map and accurately identifying street names, house numbers, and business addresses.
Assess patients and accurately communicate their condition to other medical professionals.
Prepare accurate written reports describing patients’ conditions, medical histories, and treatment provided.
Complete appropriate billing documentation.
Keep the vehicle sanitary and monitor fluid levels and gauges.
