About The Position

AMR/MedicWest offers a ten-week, company-sponsored EMT Academy in Las Vegas. The eligible candidate is hired as a full-time employee and receives a training wage while attending the academy. The program prepares employees to take the National Registry of EMT exam. After passing that exam, employees may test for Southern Nevada Health District licensure. AMR pays for the class, books, tuition, fees, and uniforms. After successful completion of the course, tests, and licensure requirements, the employee transfers to a full-time EMT position in the AMR Las Vegas and MedicWest Ambulance business units. An EMT provides basic emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients as part of a comprehensive EMS response under medical oversight. EMTs use basic ambulance equipment and skills, provide care at the scene and during transport, and help connect patients with the emergency health care system. Candidates must meet the stated prerequisites, pass required screenings, and sign a 12-month service commitment. Following academy completion, employees must pass the NREMT written and skills tests and obtain SNHD EMT licensure before receiving their EMT assignment.
