About The Position

Superior Ambulance Service is hiring EMTs for multiple locations in Ohio, including Bellevue, Columbus-Worthington, Springfield, and Toledo. The company began in 1959 and is the largest independent, locally owned and operated emergency medical services provider in the Midwest. It employs more than 4,000 licensed EMTs, paramedics, and nurses, operating more than 800 ambulances across Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, and Wisconsin. Superior also provides critical care, helicopter, and fixed-wing emergency medical transportation. EMTs and paramedics provide safe transportation and quality medical care to sick and injured individuals within the scope of state EMS regulations. Superior provides emergency and scheduled medical transports, and the position may offer FEMA deployment opportunities.

Requirements

Hold National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) certification or a current state license, or have one pending.
Be able to provide medical care at the EMT or paramedic level while safely transporting patients.
Have a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
Be able to safely operate a vehicle in daytime, nighttime, and inclement weather conditions.
Pass a pre-employment interview, physical and lifting examination, and drug screening.
Attend company-provided training and driving course.

Responsibilities

Provide patient care appropriate to EMT training.
Transport patients safely and efficiently, using map-reading skills and accurately identifying street names, house numbers, and business addresses.
Assess patients and accurately communicate their condition to other medical professionals.
Write accurate reports describing patients’ conditions, medical histories, and treatment provided.
Complete appropriate billing documentation.
Maintain vehicles in sanitary condition and monitor fluid levels and gauges.
